Shield: Africa, Southeast Asia and Oceania; From The Collection Of The Barbier-Mueller Museum
Drawing on the collections of the Barbier-Mueller Museum in Geneva the authors, Purissima Benitez-Johannot, jean Paul Barbier and Alain Michel Boyer examine the literary, mythological and historical context of shield from africa, Southeast Asia and Oceania. They discuss how the motifs on each shield allow us to define where it originates from geographically, and reveal the shields ethnic derivation and function. Illustrated with over too full-colour photographs of shield, as well as many drawings and historical photograps of the shield in its original context.
